"I loved her very much. So much that I didn't care what happened to the Domyoji family. I thought there was nothing in the world that wouldn't go as I wanted it to. I learned that there are things in this world that even I can't do anything about. Well, it's all said and done."
Tsukasa to Tsukushi's parents

Chapter 148 (第148話 () ) of Yoko Kamio's Boys Over Flowers was first published on November 5, 1998 in the twenty-third issue of Margaret.[1] It was followed by chapter one hundred and forty-nine two weeks later on November 20. The chapter was also included in the series' twenty-third volume.

Tsukushi Makino and Tsukasa Domyoji are insistent that everything is "over between [them]." Matsutaro Yoshimatsu is frustrated with Tsukushi, but she remains firm in her decision. Later, Tsukushi departs the village with her family.

Plot[]

Tsukushi Makino watches the sun rise with Rui Hanazawa, Tsukasa Domyoji, and Matsutaro Yoshimatsu. Matsutaro feels a little lonely now that Tsukushi will be leaving. However, he is excited that is getting a "happy ending" and tells Tsukasa to "take care" of her. Tsukushi corrects him by saying "It's over between us," which Tsukasa also confirms. Matsutaro is confused by the turn of events and says "If this isn't a happy end..." Tsukushi then kicks as Rui and Tsukasa leave to get their cars ready.

Matsutaro yells at Tsukushi "If you insist on being stubborn things are really going to end for you!" She tells him "Nevermind" and starts walking away from Matsutaro. To herself, Tsukushi "But it's this stubbornness that is keeping me going." Meanwhile, Tsukasa meets Tsukushi's parents whom apologize for the misunderstanding. He reveals that he really loved their daughter, but has "learned that there are things in this world that even [he cannot] do anything about." Tsukushi listens this exchange.

After packing the cars, Tsukushi says goodbye to Matsutaro. Rui then leaves in his car with her parents, forcing her to ride in Tsukasa's with her brother. While they are driving away, Tsukushi sees a young girl running towards the beach. She hurriedly stops the car and gets out. From afar, she watches the girl, Rika, jump into Matsutaro's arms. Tsukushi smiles before getting back into the car. She says to herself "[He] is going down the right path, but that night in the rain, I gave up that path."
