Personal life[]
While filming Boys Over Flowers, Kim was in two car accidents on February 1 and 9. His right big toe required stitches from the second accident, though he was able to leave the hospital the same day.[3] In February 2012, Kim's agency revealed that he was suffering from degenerative arthritis. It was brought by extreme dieting and exercise that he did in preparation for Padam Padam. The car accidents from 2009 were reported to be a contributing factor.[4]
Kim began dating Goddess of Fire costar Moon Geun-young in October 2013. They went public the following month. In May 2014, it was announced that they had ended their relationship after seven months together.[5][6] Kim began dating actress Oh Yeon-seo in March 2018 after meeting through friends.[7] In February 2019, it was reported that the couple had broken up late the previous year.[8]

- Like Kim, several of his costars were all involved in car accidents during filming. Ku Hye-sun's accident was the only one that caused Boys Over Flowers to be delayed. Kim and his male costars taped a special that aired in place of episode seventeen.[9]
- Playing their Boys Overs Flowers characters, Kim Bum appeared with Kim So-eun in a commercial for Anycall Bodyguard released in April 2009.[10]
- Kim made appearances at the following Boys Over Flowers concerts in Japan: Japan Broadcast Memorial Event,[11] Premium Event,[12] Last Event,[13] and Alumni Event.[14]
- In October 2020, Lee Min-ho sent a food truck to Kim on the set of Tale of the Nine Tailed. Kim posted photos of it on social media, thanking his "brother."[15]
