"One of the things I learned in Europe was that you should always wear a good pair of shoes. Everywhere I went, they said that if you make the choice to wear beautiful shoes they will take you to beautiful places."
Shizuka Todo

"Me, Him... and the Other Guy!" (彼とあたしとアイツ (かれとあたしとアイツ) Kare to atashi to aitsu) is the fifth episode of the Boys Over Flowers anime adaptation. The episode originally aired on October 6, 1996 in Japan. Reiko Yoshida served as screenwriter for this episode.

Rui Hanazawa successfully saves Tsukushi Makino from a group of bullies, causing a rift between him and Tsukasa Domyoji. Sick with a fever, Tsukushi spends the next day in bed.

Shizuka's shoes

Rui Hanazawa holds Tsukushi Makino as he saves her from the bullies. Tsukasa Domyoji, possibly out of jealously, tries to snatch Tsukushi out of his arms. He renounces his friendship with Rui and storms off. Shizuka Todo offers a helping hand to the disheveled Tsukushi. Tsukushi grows to admire Shizuka after their talk in the washroom. A short while later, Tsukushi runs into Rui at the stairwell and thanks him for saving her.

Tsukushi begins to feel dizzy as she talks to Kazuya Aoike. The next day, she is running a fever and opts to stay at home for the day. While at school, Tsukasa learns of Tsukushi's illness and runs into Rui, which infuriates him. To himself, Tsukasa thinks that Rui is not serious about Tsukushi and decides to visit her.

At Tsukushi's home, she is joyfully reading manga, when Tsukasa arrives. Tsukushi, believing he made her sick, informs her parents and tries to get him to leave. However, upon hearing his last name, her parents are impressed and immediately invite him in. Tsukasa eats dinner with the Makino famil, and for a second Tsukushi is captivated by his manners.

"We're going to Atami!"

Tsukushi is forced by her parents to walk Tsukasa part of the way home. Tsukasa talks about the Hawaii school trip and offers to pay Tsukushi's way. Insulted, Tsukushi declines and states to be going to Atami with Kazuya instead. While she was out, Makiko Endo left a message for Tsukushi, which would help lift her spirits for the next day. Tsukasa announces to Akira and Sojiro that they will be visiting Atami instead of Hawaii.
