"I better forget all about him, before it's too late...before I make myself feel even worse than I do already. I'll try and forget the F4 ever existed and hopefully everything will get back to normal. Goodbye, Rui Hanazawa."
—Tsukushi attempts to forget about the F4.

"The Ordinary Duo!" (パンピーな二人! (ぱんぴーなふたり) Panpīna futari!)[1] is the fourth episode of the anime adaptation of Boys Over Flowers. The episode aired on September 29, 1996 and Yumi Kageyama wrote the screenplay.

Tsukushi Makino's elementary school friend, Kazuya Aoike transfers to Eitoku Academy. Things are looking up for Tsukushi, until Tsukasa Domyoji gives Kazuya a red slip.

Rui stares at Shizuka from afar

Shizuka Todo has returned from Paris, France and greets the F4 members. Tsukushi Makino is struck with the realization of how different her world is from theirs. Meanwhile, the F4 take Shizuka out to eat and Rui Hanazawa blurts out something that has been bothering him. Shizuka reassures, though Rui does not seem satisfied as he watches her dance.

Tsukasa Domyoji teases Tsukushi the next day at school. Instead of engaging him in a fight, she runs away and happens upon Kazuya Aoike. Kazuya is Tsukushi's friend from elementary school and the two instantly reconnect. Tsukasa becomes enraged, while watching the two from a distance.

A shocked Shizuka

The repercussions are apparent the next day, when Kazuya finds a red slip in his locker. The whole school learns of the slip quickly and begin bullying them relentlessly. Tsukushi immediately confronts Tsukasa, which ends in an intense fight. She returns to Kazuya, who promises to stay by our side. Yuriko Asai and her friends notify the others of Tsukushi and Kazuya's presence.

The students chase Kazuya and Tsukushi into the university's cafeteria, where the F4 and Shizuka are having lunch. The college students are puzzled by what is going on, but no one steps in to help. Except Rui, much to everyone's shock, saves Tsukushi from the bullies.
