"Tsukushi Goes to Canada!!" (つくし、カナダへ!! (つくし、かなだへ) Tsukushi, Kanada e!!) is an episode of the anime, titled Boys Over Flowers. The episode originally aired on March 23, 1997 in Japan. It was followed by "His Body Against Mine" a week later on March 30.

Tsukushi Makino travels to Vancouver to meet Tsukasa Domyoji, along with the rest of the F4. Yuriko Asai and her friends tag along on the trip. During a blizzard, Yuriko lies to Tsukushi about seeing Yuki Matsuoka go outside.

Plot[]

Tsukushi Makino informs Akira Mimasaka and Sojiro Nishikado about Tsukasa Domyoji promising to lend her a million yen if she comes to get him in Vancouver. The guys take it as a "good excuse" for a vacation. Sojiro also tells her to invite a friend, so she ends up bringing Yuki Matsuoka. On the plane, she is irritated to see Yuriko Asai and her friends are on the same flight. Tsukushi accusingly asks Sojiro "How could you invite them?" He answers "Didn't you invite them?" Sakurako Sanjo then speaks to Tsukushi, playing up her innocent act. She slyly mentions hearing about the million yen Tsukasa promised her. Tsukushi asks "How did you hear that?," before noticing Yuriko and her friends staring at her.

After arriving in Canada, Tsukushi and Yuki gush excitedly about everything. Yuriko makes the comment "That's what I hate about poor folk." Yuki asks Tsukushi if she heard something. She quickly denies hearing anything. To herself, she makes a note to protect Yuki from those girls. Heading towards the taxis, Sojiro tells the girls "How long are you going to follow us?" They lie by claiming that Tsukushi invited them. Sojiro says "So you did invite them." The guys then turn around, heading to the taxis. Before Tsukushi can say otherwise, the girls hit her repeatedly with their purses. They all make their way to Tsukasa's family's villa some two hours away. It takes them a moment to locate him in the sprawling mansion.

They finally find Tsukasa near the fireplace. He is happy to see Tsukushi and asks her "How do you like your first overseas trip?" Being in a bad mood, she loudly answers "It's the pits!" This inevitably leads to an argument. Sojiro eventually steps in to stop the fight from escalating, though the two remain angry. The next morning, they all hit the slopes for some snowboarding. Tsukushi is having a hard time with it, when Tsukasa shows her a toy that spells out "lousy fool." She then chases him down the slope for it. Though she manages to catch him, she falls down yet again. He then helps her up and shows her how to use the toy. Meanwhile, Yuriko and her friends watch the exchange with annoyed looks.

That night, Tsukushi and Yuki are relaxing in the hot springs located in the basement of the house. Their talk turns to Tsukasa when Yuki calls him handsome. She then makes a comment on how big the villa is. Tsukushi says "Even if he has money, it means nothing if he's rotten inside," but Yuki tells her she is envious that she gets to meet boys like the F4. After bathing, the girls sit at the vanity together and reminisce about middle school. Tsukushi thinks to herself how glad she is to have Yuki with her. Yuki goes Heads to their room. When Tsukushi goes up the room, it is empty. She looks around the hallways, calling Yuki's name all the while. Tsukushi makes her way downstairs to continue her search.

Downstairs, she finds Rui Hanazawa and asks him if he has seen Yuki. He replies "Who's that?," apparently having not noticed that she came with Tsukushi. Yuriko interjects "She went out a while ago for another run." Observing a blizzard outside, Tsukushi immediately suspects that they did something to Yuki. She runs outside to go look for her. Rui tries to stop her but then goes upstairs to get the car keys from Sojiro. He then finally notices Yuki. Meanwhile, Tsukushi sprains her ankle and realizes she is lost when she cannot see which direction she came from. Rui confronts Yuriko, who pretends to be innocent, and tells her "If she gets lost, she'll die." Tsukasa walks into the room, asking "Did something happen to Makino?"
