Tsuyoshi Abe (阿部 力 (あべ つよし) Abe Tsuyoshi, born February 13, 1982 in Heilongjiang, China), also known as Li Zhendong (李振冬 () Lǐ Zhèndōng), is a Chinese-Japanese actor. He moved to Japan at the age of nine and speaks Mandarin and Japanese fluently.

He costarred in Hana Yori Dango, Hana Yori Dango Returns, and Hana Yori Dango Final as Akira Mimasaka.


Early life

Abe was born as Li Dongdong (李冬冬 () Lǐ Dōngdōng) on February 13, 1982 in Heilongjiang, China. He moved to Japan at the age of nine and changed his name to Tsuyoshi Abe, after becoming a naturalized citizen.[1] He is of mixed Japanese-Chinese ancestry and speaks Mandarin and Japanese fluently. His last name comes from his Japanese grandmother.


Personal life

He married Chinese actress, Shi Ke (史可 () , born May 4, 1979) on April 26, 2009. The couple met in 2006 during the shooting of the film, Bu Wanquan Lianren (不完全恋人 () ). Their relationship was long-distanced for over two years.[2][3] His Hana Yori Dango costars Mao Inoue, Jun Matsumoto, and Shun Oguri sent their well wishes.[4]
